Border den's

The judge was Patrick Villardry from France

This is her first Obedience competition in a long time. We don’t have much training, but I wanted to see what she could do.

She did very well, it’s not easy to see it on the video, but she turns a little on the left. It’s something I have tried to correct for ages, but she doesn’t like to stay straight. Otherwise, it’s a good exercise.

Distance control

She did it backward… It was a fun moment. We didn’t train this one much, she understands the concepts I guess.

Send around cones, stop, retrieve and jump

She moved a bit when I turned, I need to do that more often. I was confused because I forgot that in grade 3, you can have the object at the edge of the line.
After some hesitation (I guess she was also confused), she took the right one. You can see my surprise in the video when they announce the result.

Scent discrimination and retrieve.

This is my favorite exercise of this competition, I didn’t even know that she could do it so well.

Recall with down and stand.

Heelwork was never our strong side. In grade 3 it’s a long walk of pain for Kaïa. You really can see that she struggles to focus, the stress of the competition takes its toll.

The backward walk is a lot better now, as well as the sidewalk. Positions were on point.

Heelwork.

Going forward to nowhere, this makes no sense to me, and Kaïa doesn’t understand yet. I was too late for the stop command and she was outside of the box.

Send away with directions, down and recall

This is an other 0. But this one is just the lack of training, if she did go forward correctly, she would have succeeded.

Directed retrieve

Hooper at Lys Foolies

The judge was Tamara Cuypers from Belgium.

Like last year, an unofficial Hooper competition was organized at Lys Foolies.

For the first run, it comes down to control, making the dog turn properly, then pushing it into the last Hoop. Kaïa executed that flawlessly!

The second run was a tunnel festival. I didn’t push her correctly to the second barrel creating a fault.

The team run was a little harder (all teams run the same course regardless of the dog level). The main difficulty was to be able to push the dog on the last barrel and take the last hoop.
We did it flawlessly!

The judge was Hugo Santos from Portugal.

This is a weekend with four perfect weave poles!

We kick off the weekend with a challenging agility. We succeeded in some parts of it, and I got confused by a sequence that looked like a repetition but was not. I’m also happy that she understood that she needed to take the second jump as the position was not so obvious for the dog.

I’m disappointed by my performance on the jumping. It was too much run for me.
Some parts are good (the weave pole <3), but I was late on many difficulties, that killed everything.

The judge was Gilles Welfringer from Luxembourg using Zsuzsa Veres (Portugal) course.
I was lazy and took the “in” option after the fourth jump, the “tunnel” command, throwing my dog in the tunnel in front of her. And she happily complied.
Don’t be lazy…

The judge was Hugo Santos from Portugal.
The Lux Winter Cup finale!
Just after the beautiful catwalk, I pushed her way too much on the “out” and that led to an impossible position. It’s still a fun run that highlights weaknesses to work on.
